RESPECT THE MONGOLS
Mongols have had a rap, but why? From the beginning I see that while (1) Women were in charge of obviously involved in productive and responsible for food and their children they were also able to be an active member in the military. It states " Girls and women ride and gallop as skillfully as men" (pg. 460). I love this because Women in America were not given the opportunities to have a voice but Mongolians gave that right to Women and thats a sense of empowerment in my eyes.
Not only were they able to have a strong army men and women included they were very skilled and were able to (2)"[Sustain] ...extract wealth, through raiding, trading, and extortion from agricultural civilizations such as China, Persia, and Byzantium" (Pg 462). While yes it was by force we see that they were powerful and knew what they needed to do. It was survival of the fittest in my opinion. With their strong military "they came came to control the rich trade route in increate running through the Arabia.
(3) Not only were they powerful they respected their leader saying "I eat the same food and am dressed in the same rags as my humble herdsman"(Pg 469).
(4) Not only Mongols were accepting of other relationships. "They welcomed and supported many religious traditions- Buddhist, Christians, Muslim, and Daoist-as long as they did not become the focus of political opposition" (Pg. 472).
(5) Lastly Mongols were able to make armory that was not thought of before, for example they had catapults and other armory that made them strong. While yes they were known for their massacres they were respected and they knew what they had to do.
With all this being said I respect them for what they had to do and how they gained their power and how everyone know who they were. Yes, it could of been a different route but at that time that is what they believed what had to be done and they did and they succeeded.

I like your point. And I also like the photos you use. There is no doubt that Mongols worked hard to excel. Although they were not the most peaceful group, it must be recognized that they worked well.
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures and its interesting even in modern times how much the Mongols were an impact especially their military might but more impressed of their acceptance of women playing a important roles in the society.
