Early Humans

Early Humans

While researching I came across a webpage that explains the history of humans. From the article I read, we see that humans can be traced back as far as about six million years ago with a primate species called Ardipithecus which originated from Africa. They were the first humans to walk upright and were the ones who started making hand tools and weapons for survival. After the Ardipithecus came the Paranthropus who existed about one million years ago. They were known for having wider teeth which gave them a bigger selection to their diet.

While this webpage didn't discuss the species Australopithecus they were considered one of our species. They can be traced back between about 3.85 and 2.95 million years back. They also originated from Africa (Kenya, Ethiopia) and they survived for about 900,000 years. They were smaller Males were about 4ft 11 and Women 3ft.

We also learn about Homo Erectus also known as (Homo Ergaster) which are more human-like with longer legs and shorter arms. They were able to adapt to living on land and were able to learn how to walk and run longer distances. They ranged from about 4ft 9 to 6ft 1in.

Homo Sapiens have been around for about 200,000 years where Homo Erectus have been around for about 2 million years. Home Erectus and Home Sapiens did have similarities such as having similar limbs and were both able to adapt to living on land. Home Erectus had larger brains than previous species and Homo Sapiens have larger brains. Overall the similarities are there but how I see, Home Erectus were much smaller.
